  Melki Abbassi

My name is Melki Abbassi, you can call me Melki.
I am Tunisian and aged 44. I am married and have four kids (two daughters and two sons) aged between seven and twelve years.
I am living in Tunis, the capital, where my kids are at school.
For the past fifteen years or so, I worked in the Oil and Gas upstream sector, i.e.: production operations.
During those years, I have gained considerable hands-on and managerial experiences in various disciplines as I have already occupied a variety of positions in both onshore and offshore locations.

My professinal career has started in 1981. In the beginning I worked for two years as Sales and Marketing manager in a National company (SOGER). This company was specialinzing in the sales, installation and maintenance of professional audio-visual equipment.

In 1983 I joined Shell Oil Tunisia (Shell tunirex) and was assigned to its Floating Production and Storage unit TAZERKA where I worked for seven years, starting from the lowest production operation level as Production operation Technician, then along the years and due to my good performances I was promoted to higher positions. Before I was trasferred to Shell Gabon, I have occupied the position of Field Manager for two and a half years.

In 1990 I joined Shell Gabon as Field Production Supervisor in Rabi-Kounga field, onshore gabon. At that time Rabi-field was in start-up phase. This was the most complementary part of my experience. I have been exposed to many facets of te field operations. I was considered as the production operation key person, as I have been in charge of the most crutial parts of the operation.
Further details are contained in the following pages and in the Achievements chapter.

In late 1996, my contract with shell Gabon ended, meanwhile, I established and registered my service company OGEC (Oil and Gas Engineering and Consulting). The company activities were diversified to meet the market needs and requirements, but because of some unforeseen competion which less opportunities, the company did not meet its targets as per its business plan, hence it was shutdown in November 1998.

From December 1998 till present time, I am working for Baker/OTS as Oil and Gas Production Operations Development Specialist and was hired to Anadarko/Sonatrach in Algeria.
